Dark mode is better in every way: says Elon Musk
Millions of Twitter users are in for more than just a rebranding, as Elon Musk recently joined the debate on light versus dark mode. It appears that Twitter will soon be embracing the dark mode option.
In response to a user’s question about the tick color, Musk confirmed that the platform will exclusively feature dark mode in the near future. He even expressed his belief that dark mode is superior in many aspects.
This platform will soon only have “dark mode”. It is better in every way.

Musk’s statement sparked a flurry of responses from Twitter users, with many pointing out how light text on a black background can strain the eyes. Some users requested that the light mode be retained as an option even if dark mode becomes the permanent choice. The new dark mode also seems to align with the rebranded logo and design language.
While dark mode enthusiasts may rejoice at this news, others may not share the same enthusiasm. Currently, Twitter offers different backgrounds, including Dim with dark blue and gray options, a light mode, and a lights-out mode with a full black background.
The rebranding of Twitter as X took place on the night of July 24, shortly after the platform’s Android app underwent a makeover. Users of the iOS app can expect the change to be implemented soon, although it has not happened yet.
