India vs West Indies: India Triumphs in Two-Match Test Series: A Rain-Soaked Battle

India vs West Indies test series

India vs West Indies: In an exhilarating encounter, India emerged victorious in the two-match Test series against West Indies, securing a 1-0 win after the second Test at the Queen Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad, ended in a draw due to relentless rain on the final day.

As the penultimate day drew to a close, India found themselves a mere eight wickets away from a triumphant outcome, while the West Indies required a challenging 289 runs to level the series. Unfortunately, Mother Nature intervened, pelting the venue with heavy rain, forcing both team captains to mutually call off the game early, leaving the Test series results unchanged.

India’s remarkable Test series win streak against the West Indies continued, showcasing their dominance in the format. Furthermore, India etched their name in the record books by achieving the fastest team 100 in just 12.2 overs during the second innings of the Test, further solidifying their position as a formidable Test side.

A standout performance from Mohammed Siraj earned him the well-deserved title of “Player of the Match.” His career-best figures of 23.4-6-60-5 in the first innings played a pivotal role in the West Indies’ collapse, as they tumbled from 229/5 to 255 all-out on the third day.

Speaking after the match, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma expressed his contentment with the team’s performance, acknowledging the challenges posed by playing in the West Indies. He praised his team’s positive intent on the previous day, which unfortunately went unrewarded due to the unpredictable weather.

As the dust settles on the Test series, India finds themselves placed second in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table with 16 points and an impressive 66.67 points percentage (PCT). On the other hand, West Indies currently occupies the fifth position with 4 points and a 16.67 PCT. At the summit of the chart is Pakistan, having accumulated 12 points from a single match, boasting a perfect 100 PCT.
